Hi,
I tried to create a table in oracle using Oracle database plug-in, but it doesnt execute. it returns with ERROR. can any one guide me in this.
My Code:
Apply Install (get result into variable SUCCESS)
if Variable SUCCESS not Equals ERROR
if Variable SUCCESS not Equals CANCEL
Set Variable ORACLESUCCESS to
Oracle Database Script : Connect to server (without client software) 192.168.1.5 at port 1521 for database orcl as ordinary user ictm1 (get result into variable $ORACLESUCCESS$)
if Variable ORACLESUCCESS Equals ERROR
Set Variable SUCCESS to ERROR
Set Variable LASTERROR to Oracle Gave Error
end
One strange thing i notice in the Oracle Database Script is there is Password and SQL Script in the command. but when i double click the command goto to visual mode, it has all the datas
I have attached the visual mode window of oracle Command.

Hi,
I think you forgot to attach the file!
Usually such problems occur due to network, connectivity, or security problems. Please double-check your settings and try again.

thanks

when i use "With Client" Option of the Oracle Command, in the Server Field should i use the netservice name or the server name(or ip address)?
If possible give me sample script.

Hi
Is there any news?
I'm having the same problem and there is no solution to be found.
I'm using InstallAware 10 and Oracle Database 9 installed on local computer.
Connecting to database without client software (NET) is successful but I need to use client software.
Regards
Marko

Hi Giaviv
Here is the code for connecting to Oracle database:
~InstallAware Clipboard Data~
~Comment~
~{90C75549-6C1C-498B-A73A-5526E3833019}~
~~
~End~
~{00CCB879-EF49-4F2A-B823-61DE4B9390F2}~
~End~
~{06F1B6B6-2E7E-49AE-B127-CE904BA7DC79}~
~Apply Changes~
~{6A47D326-D2D4-4146-9B1A-A53884346DAF}~
~~
~~
~TRUE~
~FALSE~
~Oracle Database~
~{3CBB115B-17A2-4704-AF3B-BAED16E4F23C}~
~localhost,1521,MK_PROMK,prodba,prodba,SUCCESS,0,"CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY PRENOS AS 'C:\TEMP';$NEWLINE$",0,0~
~mOraDBIDE.dll\mOraDBExec.dll~
~If~
~{2236CD4A-6E9E-4E37-AF5D-2F5ACAB548EC}~
~SUCCESS~
~0~
~CANCEL~
~TRUE~
~If~
~{4D015F28-24E9-41CE-A05C-570CA9C82873}~
~SUCCESS~
~0~
~ERROR~
~TRUE~
~Set Variable~
~{FAC3E0E4-3E08-49F3-A633-A3461A26792B}~
~SUCCESS$MYAH$MYAH$FALSE~
~TRUE~
I assume that program needs to read TNSNMAES.ORA. Contents of the file is:
MK_PROMK =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = luka-xp)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = PROMK)
)
)
Now I'm wondering if the checkbox is enoght for program to know what file to read and where to get it?
Do I need to set anything else?
Regards
Marko

Dear Marko,
Which file and which checkbox are you referring to?

Hi Aviv
I'm refering to the file TNSNAMES.ORA.
By checkbox I ment the checkbox in Oracle database plugin where you can select whether you will connect with or without Oracle client.

Marko

Marko,
The checkbox has nothing to do with the file you are referring to. The file is loaded via the Load Script button and once loaded its contained inside InstallAware. Please send your project (and the Oracle version you are using) to support at installaware.com and I will look at it here. Thanks!

Hi Aviv
I believe we don't understand each other.
TNSNAMES.ORA is the file needed by Oracle (Client or Server) where parameters for database are stored (Alias of the database, server address, port, database name).
The file loaded by LoadScript button has nothing to do with TNSNAMES.ORA.
There is a statement in the help:
If the Connect Without Client Software (Net) option is not checked, Oracle client software is required on the target system for this action to succeed.
My question is:
How to use this Oracle Client?

Marko

Dear Marko,
Which exact version of Oracle database are you using? Could you please provide me with a download link?

Hi Aviv
I'm using Oracle 9.2.0.1.
What download link did you mean?
You can find TNSNAMES.ORA file in folder (according to Oracle version):
- ...\ora92\network\admin
- ...\product\10.2.0\db_1\NETWORK\ADMIN
- ...\product\11.1.0\db_1\NETWORK\ADMIN

Dear Marko,
I meant a link where I can download the Oracle version / another version similar to it so I could test this here and hopefully help you out!

Hi Aviv
Currently I can not provide you a link. Oracle does not provide this version and for other version you need to login.
I'll try to set up a ftp.

Marko
