Hi,

I'm running the following command

Code: Select all

Get Folder Location System->Windows Directory into NET2SP2_WINDIR
Check File Version $NET2SP2_WINDIR$\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll into Variable NET2SP2_FILE
Write into Text File c:\version.log from Value FILE returns $NET2SP2_FILE$ :::$NET2SP2_WINDIR$\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll (at end of file)
on a 32 bit 2008 SP2 machine that is fully patched and my log file contains the following
FILE returns FALSE :::C:\Users\dxm1\WINDOWS\\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll
This is failing and i am now trying to install .NET 2 SP2 on a 2008 machine that already has .NET
This installer has run without issue on 7 of the 8 servers onsite without an issue
Is there anything i can try?

Ian

Dear Ian,

Probably doesn't matter, but your have two slashes after the WINDOWS folder - change your Get File Version to $NET2SP2_WINDIR$Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll.
Other than that, are you sure that the file exist and that you have permissions to access its version?

The issue is that Get Folder Location System->Windows Directory is returning c:\users\{username}\Windows not c:\windows
and therefore it cannot find if .net 2 is installed.(the script came from the built-in .net 2 sp2 pre-req)

BTW: i copied C:\WINDOWS\\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll to C:\Users\dxm1\WINDOWS\\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll and the installer successfully located .net2 and succeeded.

Dear Ian,

I apologize. This is a strange issue that does not reproduce in my machine. As a work-around. please hard code c:\windows as the Windows directory.
If this is not satisfactory, consider writing a DLL (or an InstallAware plugin) that calls GetWindowsDirectory and returns it.
