Upgrade operation not recognized after signing installer

I have changed my install to use version 10 and am having a problem with installaware recognizing that the install is an upgrade after i use signtool to code sign the installer executable. If I don't do the sign step then the installer recognizes that this is an upgrade of an installation. I am using the native engine and I can't get the authenticode option inside installaware to work so I do it externally. Any thought on whats happening here.
Thanks

Dear rlahnum,
There definitely have been some issues with the sign tools in InstallAware and them being deprecated.
Could you explain what you mean when you say "installaware recognizing that the install is an upgrade after"?
What exactly happens?

Sorry about the delay in responding. What I meant by upgrade was that when the variable NEEDSUPGRADE is TRUE I do an upgrade of the dll's in my installer script. This works fine when I don't sign the installer but It seems to look like a new install if I do sign the exe.

I see. Fortunately InstallAware 11 ships with many fixes to the signing utilities so upgrades may solve your problem. Have you considered upgrading?

I should be eligible for upgrade so I will look into it.
