Settings values when building

Hi,
Using Developer.
How do I get the versionnumber from one of the .exe that's included in the install and set it as the installation versionnumber?
How do I set the UpgradeCode and the ProductCode to a given GUID?
Due to SCCM we are requred to set the UpgradeCode/ProductCode to the first builds ProductCode and the versionnumber of the msi to the .exe files versionnumber with out the revision number..

Hey Kurt,
This cannot be done post-compilation. The only option to edit these variables is through the project settings in InstallAware BEFORE building the setup..

Any hint on the pre-process then?

Hi Kurt,
As I said, this cannot be done post-compilation - these values are set in the MSI tables.
The values from the MSI tables correlate to the pre-defined variables in InstallAware.
That being said, changing these MSI table values can have an unpredictable effect on the pre-defined variables, and therefore should be avoided.

Hi,
As with version number I do understand the problem, but not with the UpgradeCode and the ProductCode - those are widely used by SCCM to identify and automate the upgrade process...
So InstallAware must have a solution/support for SCCM as well or.... It simple can't be true that we have to set those by MSIexec afterwards or....

Kurt,
I am not really sure I understand what you are saying, however, what is the problem with setting the Revision Code in the IDE?

Hi,
The SCCM folks are referring to: ”small update”:

When you create a patch or an update, InstallAware manages the changes of these code automatically.
Generally speaking, there are very little cases in which you need to set these codes manually.

Hi,
Yes, but not as the SCCM folks would like it the MS way, so to speak... eg. the UpgradeCode and the ProductCode needs to be fixed within version.

Again, then you can edit it yourself within the IDE (project settings)..

Hi,
So basicly in the IDE via Project Options-dialog this is set by:
UpgradeCode = "Upgrades products with product code"
ProductCode = "Product Code"
And RevisionCode should be unique for the build...
I think I got confussed by the fact that UpgradeCode isn't on the Project Properties page and thereby got the interpitation that UpgradeCode=RevisionCode that changes between builds, so....
Sorry!!!!
