Hello,
I have translated my Setup project into German.
All seems to be ok
But, the shortcut in the start menu to uninstall the product still be in English
In the translated strings of MTranslator in section
Create (Advertised) Shortcut Commands
String Translation German String Meaning English
#TITLE# Deinstallation Uninsall #TITLE#
The Msi code for the uninstall shortcut
MSICode
Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\Uninstall #TITLE# to $UNINSTALLLINK$
I have tried several times to import the translated strings and rebuild but no effect
The Start menu entry still remains in English
Uninstall MyProgramm
any Idea?

Dear Hansjoerg,
Is "uninstall" the only English string?
As a work-around, you can just change that to whatever you'd like..

yes, All seems to be tranlated fine except the word "Uninstall" in the shortcut of the start menu.
how and where should I change the word "Uninstall" If I change it in the MSI code to German it will be also German if
someone will install in English.
What else can I do?
If I do an export of the strings again, do I need to translate all again?

Hansjoerg,
That string is an InstallAware shared string - you can edit these using the mTranslator tool in the InstallAware\trans folder

Aviv,
I know.
as I wrote in my beginning post, I have already translated all strings with mTranslator!
also the uninstall string in section
Create (Advertised) Shortcut Commands
String Translation German String Meaning English
#TITLE# Deinstallation Uninsall #TITLE#
But after import the translated strings and after installing the uninstall link is always in English.

Hi,
Could you please try changing the English portion to German and seeing if that changes the string that shows up?

Dear Aviv,
I have translated also the English string to German for the Uninstall link but same,
After installation in German there is the shortcut text:
"Uninstall MyProgram"
It seems that the uninstall string will not be translated. But strange thing, the tooltip for this link is translated to German.
Any idea what else can I do?

Hansjoerg,
Please do a "search in files" for uninstall to see where that string is coming from. It should either be in the trans folder or in your project folder.

Hello Aviv,
I cannot find the word "Uninstall" in the "translated.German" file.
If I change the uninstall shortcut in the MSI code
Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\Uninstall #TITLE# to $UNINSTALLLINK$
to
Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\RemoveMYAPP #TITLE# to $UNINSTALLLINK$
then after installation the shortcut in the start menu is named
RemoveMYAPP MyProgram
It seems for me that the Uninstalllink will never be translated
What can I do?

Hansjoerg

Hansjoerg,
I see. I think your best bet would be to manually set the shortcut name on the Create Shortcut command like the example you gave.

Aviv,
but why does this happen?
This should not be the correct way.
Because, at beginning of my install routine users can choose between German and English.
If yo install in English you then have a German Uninstall link if you do it hardcoded in the MSI

Hi,
You are correct. Therefore, I'd suggest wrapping the Create Shortcut command with and If..Else block that checks the LANGUAGE pre-defined variable and installs the according shortcut link.
