Nofar,

I am a little confused. First of all, which MSI are you talking about? Group Policy MSI?

Also, what do you mean by this " how do i declare parameter in registry key data? parametrs in service ?"

Thanks!

Could you please give me an example if how you would want this to be?
Are you asking how to write values to the registry? How to pass command line parameters to the MSI?

Hi,

i'm asking How to pass command line parameters to the MSI?
and how to define it in the MSIcode
i know how to write key in the registry but the msi i created suppose to run on different computers,
and i want to change the ip value in the registry according to the command line parameters .

thanks,
Nofar

Nofar,

What happens is that in Group Policy deployed setups, the MSI tables of the outer group policy MSI contains the CMDLINE field which indicates the command line parameters that will be passed to the EXE. You can edit these tables with MSI editors such as Orca, but you cannot establish this in the InstallAware IDE.

Hi Aviv,

what doed it mean "MSI tables of the outer group policy MSI contains the CMDLINE field which indicates the command line parameters that will be passed to the EXE"?
where can i find those MSI tables ?
do i need to use group policy MSI or it's better to leave it as exe?

thanks,
Nofar

Unless you are deploying with group policy, use the EXE.
The MSIL file contains these tables, and you can edit them using an MSI editor such as Orca (which is free).
