InstallAware

It appears this has been a recurring theme, but I can't seem to a useful answer. I am using InstallAware Studio 9, (9.06? or 9.6?, released July of 2009). Anyway, I need to move my installation to a new computer. When I attempt to use the old installer to install on the new machine, all I can get is "Extraction of installation data downloaded from the web has failed". We really don't need to upgrade to the latest version, as IA 9 is doing the job quite well. I just need to be able to re-install what we have. Is there a way to make this work? Thanks.

What you have is the web installer of IA 9 instead of the full installation binary.

Craig, I've sometimes been asked if I could upload my full version 9. If you'd like it, let me know where to upload to. Obviously, you'll have to have a copy of your licence key runtime to activate it. Let me know if you want the installation file.

It would be great if you could upload the IA9 binaries. It's actually IA9 R2, with version number 9.6.9006.2009. Hopefully you have exactly this one, since that's the version I have an activation file for. I also have a slightly older version 9.0.9000.2009, for which I also have an activation file. We needed to replace or dev computer with a larger harddrive and now cannot reinstall IA9 (same file version as other post).

Need the files we should have backup of first install download.

Not sure if I can copy-n-paste InstallAware 9 folder to new harddrive and make it work.

If you have all the INSTALLER files for all the features you want, then you should be able to move the folder to the new hard drive and re-install. You probably can't just move the installed image though. Remember that you also have to have your activation EXE file also. If you don't have that, then you're stuck. My problem was that I didn't have the files because I didn't realize that IA would not keep them available on-line.

I have the 'IA9 Registration.exe' and the IA9 Installer.exe, just fails when trying to run the installer when it needs to download the actual files.

I am most disappointed with the lack of prior version download support! Not everyone has $1000.00 to spend for an upgrade right now!
