Installation failure over a network
Posted: Fri Dec 09, 2011 2:02 am
Trying to install an exe file from a local network location. The exe file is located on a server running Windows 2008. The client computer runs Window 7.
The error message is "can not find archive file" and then after that another error message "Cannot start setup - the setup file may be corrupt ...".
If the file is copied locally and then executed, there are no problems. If the client is Windows XP, there are also no problems.
Anti-virus software was not installed on either computer.
It's very important that the file be executed from the remote server as the program puts information about the remote server onto the client computer.
Any ideas?
