Edit text file

Hi there, I posted a similar question in the plugins forum without success.
I need to change the contents of a config text file based on user input (a connection string) and the Editfile plugin doesn't work with IA 2012.
Any way I can achieve this with IA alone or a simple extra work (no C++ dlls or such)?
Thanks

Dear User,
Unfortunately the plugin has been developed by another user. So I don't know if he wants to continue with it in future.
Without using Dlls will be not very easy to do.
With IA could be possible to use XML edit command, but actually there are some limitations with it.
Will be nice If other users have any experience to share.
Regards

Luckily, I had to change an XML file and after some initial weird behavior (the action combo disabled and the fact that the file was getting created outside targetdir) I managed to use the Edit XML file command.
Editing non-structured text files is an important feature, though. I believe you should have something to handle it out of the box, not rely on a third person's work.

Dear User,
I agree with you, in fact InstallAware is working on XML file improvement.
It so important and we are not relying on a third person's work.
Unfortunately at the moment I can not give you any information about release date.

Dear User,
in meanwhile and as additional info to my previous reply;
I don't if this can actually help you (maybe not), have you tried if the following IA commads can help you with your file needs?
> Read from Text File
> Write to Text File
> Replace String
It is only a suggestion.
