Wrong shortcut location

Hello,
in my MSI code I have following shortcut commands:

Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\QSuper-Konfiguration to $TARGETDIR$\QSuper.exe
Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\QSuper to $TARGETDIR$\QSuper.exe
Create Shortcut $DESKTOPDIR$\QSuper to $TARGETDIR$\QSuper.exe, Pin to Start Menu, Pin to Taskbar

The first one QSuper-Konfiguration has an command line parameter

The problem is:
The first shortcut is twice in the Start menu. One is direct in the Start menu, and then again in the Folder of the Program with the Second shortcut and the uninstall shortcut.

Why is this shortcut twice?

regards
Hans

Dear Hans,

for what I see, actually you are creating 3 shortcuts.
Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\QSuper-Konfiguration to $TARGETDIR$\QSuper.exe
Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\QSuper to $TARGETDIR$\QSuper.exe
Create Shortcut $DESKTOPDIR$\QSuper to $TARGETDIR$\QSuper.exe, Pin to Start Menu, Pin to Taskbar
With these as above, the shortcut that have "QSuper" description is used twice:
Create Shortcut $SHORTCUTFOLDER$\QSuper to $TARGETDIR$\QSuper.exe
Create Shortcut $DESKTOPDIR$\QSuper to $TARGETDIR$\QSuper.exe, Pin to Start Menu, Pin to Taskbar
pinned to Start Menu / Taskbar (if applicable with target OS) and to App folder menu.

So just remove the unwanted one from MSI code or using the ShortCuts page in Design view.

Hope this helps you.

Regards

Hello,
thank for help.
I have to correct me: All shortcuts are used twice
QSuper direct in start menu
QSuper-Konfiguration direct in Startmenu

The in the Startmenu--Program folder
QSuper
QSuper-Konfiguration
Uninstall QSuper

I want the shortcuts only in the Startmenu--Program folder! and of course also an icon on the Desktop. So for this is the thirs shortcut

But why are two shortcuts outside the Program-Folder and direct in the Start menu?

regards
Hans

Dears Hans,

very probably because you have checked "Pin to Start Menu (Windows XP and higher)" control in your Create ShortCut settings.

Dear Francesco,
now I have tried to delete the shortcut for the desktop. But anyhow, there is always an additional shortcut for the configuration direct in the Start menu.
Then in the Start menu--All Programs--MyProgram there is the correct Uninstall shortcut, the QMove and QMove-Konfiguration shortcut

Here is the code

~InstallAware Clipboard Data~
~Create Shortcut~
~{658FF252-D91A-4F1F-8996-7E7A8B900165}~
~$TARGETDIR$\QMove.exe~

Dear Hans,

seems there is an error with the IA Clip Board Data you pasted, I am unable to use it.

Could you try again placing it inside a a "CODE" tag (available from post reply menu)?

Regards.

Dear Hans,

I'm sorry but I'm unable to use your clipboard data (... seems corrupted).

Can you retry to post inside a "code tag" as the example below?

Code: Select all

~InstallAware Clipboard Data~
~Set Variable~
~{B3A3F0FC-8EE4-4DA7-BDB0-C4C39540A5FC}~
~PRELIST~
~$PRELIST$$NEWLINE$Previous Version Uninstallation~
~Set Variable~
~{2D986CBE-D8CF-4B0F-98E3-60597C176BB5}~
~PREREQ~
~TRUE~
Alternatively are you able to reproduce your issue with a very simple project?

Regards
