UAC Elevation Level Recommendation?

Hi,
I've read through the help and various answers on this forum regarding UAC Elevation, so I think I finally understand what it does. Unfortunately, I'm still a little fuzzy on how to determine whether a setup NEEDS admin privileges to run. In my case, I used the default Win32 Setup template to install a stand-alone database application.

What would be the recommended UAC Elevation level for this?

Also, if possible, could you list some examples of what type of installations would fall under each of the UAC Elevation levels?
-- Never Elevate (asInvoker)
-- Elevate Administrators Only (highestAvailable)
-- Always Elevate (requireAdministrator)

Thanks in advance!
- John

Dear John,

If you haven't already seen the following link "UAC Elevation Clarification" ... it can be useful:
http://www.installaware.com/forum/viewt ... f=2&t=6787.

By the way, any installation package that requires access to system areas restricted by UAC need elavation.

For example, if your package have to write a key under HKLM registry (HKLM registry access is restricted by UAC)... your package requires elevation.
In general, any application that requires to execute system settings modification, requires UAC elevation.

I can suggest you also the following topic, about development & UAC implications:

Hope this helps you.
