Best way to update a .config?

Greetings all,

I was originally using the "EditFile" plugin for upating the contents of our <application>.exe.config files which worked perfectly for doing this, but currently it seems that it doesn't work for the latest version of IA NX and I am assuming based on other searches I have done for the same reason that perhaps the developer is no longer maintaining the development.

With that said my question is how (and what) is the best way to update the contents of the <application>.exe.config files currently within IA? I noticed there is a feature to edit the contents of an .xml based file, but the documentation on this utility is sparse to say the least and doesn't really say much if it can be used for editing .config files as well and also how to go abouts doing it... such as updating the Connection String, Custom Settings, etc.

Any help would be appreciated since I am now stuck after upgrading to the latest IA in our environment and I cannot rebuild our setup files without some sort of resolution.

Thanks much!

Dear Dave,

We currently have Read from Text File and Write to Text File; used with the #READALL\ sequence and the Replace String function, these serve well as an Edit File (please check the help file for more information on the sequence).

Hope this helps you.

Regards

Or, as i am doing it with our .Net releases, you can also use the edit xml command (maybe it might be a command from the caphyon plugin oe the mdtools plugij, which i can both recommend).
