Hi Support,
I have the following questions regarding command line build:
- I need the output as msi and not exe. What do I need to run?
- I want the resulting folder to be the one that I've set in /o without the addition of release\single.
Regards,
Tzach

Another question.
Can I prevent the miabuild.exe from clearing the target folder each time, and overwrite existing file?
Regards,
T.

Dear Tzachk,
I need the output as msi and not exe. What do I need to run?
If you are using InstallAware NX or above, it is possible to generate a MSI file output from command line, passing the pre-defined InstallAware compiler variable "MSI_ALL" as TRUE with the "miabuild.exe" command line tool.
Otherwise, you can use the "pgplwiz.exe" command line tool to convert to MSI a previously generated file with "miabuild.exe".
I want the resulting folder to be the one that I've set in /o without the addition of release\single.
Unless not differently specified using the "miabuild.exe" allowed parameters, it is used the project output setting by default.
Can I prevent the miabuild.exe from clearing the target folder each time, and overwrite existing file?
No you can't.
Regards

Dear Tzachk,
When launched from command line a progress dialog comes up while running ( ... closed automatically on completion).
Regards.

pgplwiz.exe doesn't seem to understand '/?', it will display a pop-up dialague. So it's guessing at the options to get it right.
Have a look at this thread, another member of the forum gives a great example on how to use pgplwiz.

Hate to revitalize an old thread, but…..
I’ve gotten the command line interface to build the exe and converit to an msi. Everything works great, except it’s not picking up the version number that I supply via the command line.
Thus, when I install the msi, under ‘Program and Features’, my product is listed with no version.
Here are the commands:
miabuild "C:\InstallAware_Projects\PRODUCT\PRODUCT.mpr" /o="C:\Temp\PRODUCT" /b=1 /r VERSION="1.2.3.40012" Manufacturer="Me"
c:\Program Files (x86)\InstallAware\InstallAware 2012\group policy\pgplwiz.exe" c:\temp\PRODUCT\Release\Single\PRODUCTSetup.exe "ALLUSERS=TRUE" c:\temp\PRODUCT\Release\Single\PRODUCTSetup.msi "PRODUCT Name" 1.2.3.40022
No errors are produced. Product does install.
Thanks!
Patrick.

Dear Patrick,
Please use a single topic if you want to post the same question.
Anyway, I just replied to the other one ...
