Hello,

we assume on my computer is installed a software. Now there is an update available for this software. While installing my computer is crashed. Will the files, that was installed on my computer by the update UNDO. For example the Update install the files A,B,C,D,E,F in order....While file c was installed, ... the computer crashes. Will the files(A,B,(C)) will be deinstalled automatically? I want only keep the files by the Update, when the installation was successfull. Is this defined anywhere?

Dear Sarah,

if a running process is brutally terminated due a system crash, there is no possibility to control the process termination.
This kind of event can cause problems, if the running process does not interact with other part of the system, but because an installation package is a process that makes system modification, the side effects can be even more serious and unexpected.

In other words and depending on which circumstance the system crash, the damages can be quite different.
If you are lucky, you will be able to re-install or remove the package afterwards ... if you are not, even the system could no longer restart.
