This is fixed in InstallAware 10.

Can we get a full IA9 fix? I have no need to move to IA10 since all my prereq install require Windows Installer to be intact. This was a pretty significant problem and should have a full patch released for it.

Hi rev23dev:
What do you mean with: "all my prereq install require Windows Installer to be intact"

OK, in this situation, I think the easiest instructions are:

You may need to uninstall IA 9 or install 10 on another machine.
Download IA 10 (web installer).
Choose minimum install and check off the SQL Express 2008 R2 runtime.
Once installed, copy the sqlexpress2008_x64.7zip from 10 to the 9 runtimes folder.

By that I mean, the main selling point of IA10 is "native mode" to avoid issues in a system with a corrupted windows installer.

This doesn't help me, because my installs require SQL Server 2008 Express, .net Framework 4, amongst a few others, all requiring Windows Installer to be installed themselves. So if Windows Installer is corrupted, getting my software on the client machine without those prerequisites is useless anyways. See my point?

I'm trying out 2012 and this error appears to be back. I cannot install SQL express 2008. I tried R1, R2, x64 and x86.

Hi,

We were unable to reproduce this issue on a Windows 7 x64. Could you please provide us with more information with which we can reproduce the issue?

Also, we would like to clarify that we don’t break anything between versions – we have very strict regression tests in place for all runtimes.
