Can't build patch

I'm very new to using InstallAware and have been unable to build a patch for my web or compressed builds. I add a patch by pointing it to the previous build and start the BUild Patch. The patch building starts, but hangs and never finishes. I've left my pc for hours doing this and it never finished. I've tried this several times, and resolved that I must be doing something wrong which doesn't allow it to finish. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
