Hi,

I'm evaluated version 12 at the moment, and have a query as to how to update an existing installation of a web site. During a new install I have the following occurring:

New Install

• Install pre-compiled ASP.NET files to a location
• Apply NTFS permissions to files for certain IIS accounts
• Create IIS Web Site
• Write Registry Entry
• Install & start Windows Service

I would like to be able to perform an update with the installer as well with the following desired results:

Desired Update Install

• Stop Windows Service
• Do not touch the Created Web Site in IIS or the Registry Entry
• Update pre-compiled ASP.NET files in the same location, but ignore updating certain files i.e. web.config file
• Apply NTFS permissions to files for certain IIS accounts
• Start Windows Service

Does anyone know if this is possible at all?

Hi,

When you include web updates, a designated script (called updates) is added to your project.

What you can do is add the functionality you were trying to get when updates occur to your updates script.
