Upgrade from IA 10 to 12

Hi

I have just upgraded my InstallAware from 10 to 12, but can no longer compile the project.
After a little bit of investigation, there is a probably invalid line of code

Code: Select all

Set Variable {127AB9EB-89BB-44EA-A60D-899DC30D4E40} to PROGRESSTEXT
in there that apparently didn't get picked up as an error by the 10 compiler when it was introduced (I have no idea how it happened, it just randomly showed up after some changes to the script file). Now this line gets picked up as an error in the 12 compiler, and showed me where the error was, so I tried to fix it by changing it to what it was supposed to be:

Code: Select all

Set Variable SHORTCUTFILESALL to $SHORTCUTFILES$
I was allowed to make this change but the compile failed with the same error. I saved the file, restarted InstallAware, and it opened up again with a different line in there

Code: Select all

Set Variable {00281FC2-E74B-419B-A667-86DDFB4AEC1D} to SUCCESS
So I tried the line, and i get a "List Index out of bounds (-1)" error message popup in InstallAware. I tried deleting in Installaware 10 on another PC, and the same error occurs. Then it gets even better, once I get that error message, and try to scroll on the screen, the whole code disappears completely, so I restart installaware and the same thing happens...

So,
a) how do I fix that line to the correct value?
b) is the List Index error going to be fixed in a future release/bugfix/patch?
c) Any ideas how that line of code switched itself to the invalid line in the first place? (I couldn't see any modifications made that were anything to do with that line in SVN repo)

If not, I guess I'll have to stick to Installaware 10...:(

On a side note: I installed IA12 after uninstalling 10, installed my licence, IA12 worked fine, but when i tried to compile i was missing a plugin. I added the plugin through the installer with the add more features option, and now I have to reinstall the licence again... Is that really the expected functionality, cause it seems a bit unnecessary to reinstall the licence after adding a plugin....

Thanks

Hi,
Could you please attach here the project that is causing issues?

Can't post the project due to work restrictions, managed to get it compiling in IA12 by editing the MIA manually.

Why does the MIA script file have to be so obfuscated??? It makes life VERY difficult when trying to manage the scripts in source control, especially when branches need merging. Installshield has their script files perfectly suited to source control.

I did write a long post explaining how I fixed it, and also some questions about some other bugs\UI issues in IA, but the forum decided I needed to re-login before posting, which took me to the forum index page, so the entire post was lost. NOT impressed. So I'm not writing it up again.

Hi,

We apologize for that. Please note that MIA scripts are meant to be edited in the IDE, rather than directly.
