The editfile plugin only works on files that are already present on the target system, so, if you need to edit a file that you are installing the editfile plugin must be placed after the apply install command.

You can delete these 2 keys to remove the app from ARP.

AND

If you know or can determine somehow (from the registry or otherwise) the above refenced artice will work fine. Just use a variable for the program to run.

The term sample is misleading it should be located under Templates are All Types on the New Project Dialog.

Read from Text File $SUPPORTDIR$\\installer_data.txt into Variable ServiceName is only used at RUNTIME, Install Files command is used during COMPILE to package the file so it has to find it to package it and SUPPORTDIR is only available at RUNTIME.

SUPPORTDIR is a RUNTIME variable!

This variable is not available at COMPILE time.

Support files are temporary files meant to be used during INSTALLATION at RUNTIME.
