Hello Guys,
always on compilation the shared.translations are copied from trans-directory to my project. When I edit them in the project folder
they will be overwritten always. How can I avoid that?
Reason: I need different shared.translations for german and english. So I have 4 files (2 germans and 1 english). On Setup A I need 2 files and on Setup B I need different shared translations
with other texts in it. And I dont want to replace the files in trans-directory depending on which Setup I want to build.
But I cant get it working..
How using different Share translation files

Re: How using different Share translation files
Dear Heiko,
I supspect exist something wrong with the approch you used with translation.
The localized strings are never overwritten by default with project compilation, these are updated only if you decide to import the modified strings back to the project.
I may suggest you to have a look at the attached "quick guide" that illustrates the basic localization steps.

Re: How using different Share translation files
I dont mean my translated files (dialogs, etc)...I mean the shared translation files (with text for language selection dialog on startup for example).
e.g shared translation files in my project and in IA trans folder are from december. Then I change a text in the trans folder in these files. When I now build, i have the changed trans files in my project folder
so you are wrong

Re: How using different Share translation files
Dear Heiko,
the Shared String Resources (by the name) are the same for all the project and any modification you make to these strings are applied to any InstallAware project when localization is used.
In other words and as for any Localized strings included with the project, these are never overwritten by default with project compilation.
Shared Strings and other Localized strings as well, are updated only if you decide to import the modified strings back into the project.
Anyway it is not clear to me when you say; "...Then I change a text in the trans folder in these files"
How do you update those files? Do you use the "Shared String" tool from the IA IDE?
