I wonder the building of patches can be automated. From the white paper, I understand that if I have made an update and would like to make a web update patch, I will need to go through these steps:
1. Give a new product version under Application Information -> Project Properties
2. Create a new update pack under Web Updates -> Update Packs
3. Select appropriate application version under Web Updates -> Versions
4. Build patch under Deployment -> Patches -> Build Patch
Is there anyway I could automate it so that if I run a script it will ask which application version the patch is applicable to and also ask for the new version of the patch (or just auto increment the version number) then automatically do all the steps listed above ?
At the moment doing small changes to my code and have to go through the above 4 steps to build a patch is kinda troublesome. Thank you.
Scripts for automatic patch build
Re: Scripts for automatic patch build
Dear yjdev,
Unfortunately these step cannot be automated.
Creating setup versions is not a mundane action - it should happen very rarely (or at least somewhat rarely), and hence it is not automizable.
