Installing with serial number validation

What is required to have serial number validation within the installer?

For example if I want the user to put in their license key before the install will succeed what do I need to do?

I am using the Developer Edition and I have a feeling it will require me to have a custom dialog which means I will be forced into the Studio edition for another $1000.

Can someone confirm this please.

In the MSIcode view, check the dialogs on the left. You should notice one called "registrationwithserial".

If you need a serial format different from that provided, you'll be looking at Studio edition, then.

I see. Also looks like if I want to use the Keygen compiler variable then I would have to move to studio as well.

So if I needed to generate my own key and provide to customer... what keygen tool can I use that provides the number in the format the registrationwithserial requires?

Then how does it validate? My guess is one could use a plug in or post to website?

Didn't know if there was a rock solid secure key maker that many have used with InstallAware?
