Annoying situation

Postby stho2003 » Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:14 pm

I have a problem with my project:

My project has 31,709 files within 535 folders, and it's 3.22Gb in size, it seems that InstallAware can take care of building that, but it takes forever to build the project. I'm building it in Uncompressed mode, last time I built the project it took more than 7 hours to build at least the half of the project.

I've built the same project with another installer software, and it doesn't take as long as installaware does, it taked 20 Mins., but other software can't handle such amount of files.

Any work around?.

PS: I have a pentium4 3.2Ghz machine with 1Gb RAM.

Unfortunately, there is a known issue when building with a very large quantity of files - the build process seems to slow down exponentially after the first several thousand files have been built.

We have already developed a solution that avoids the exponential slowdown issue and should have your builds complete around 20 minutes like the other product. This will be available in a update soon, or simply use the attached DLL file (overwrite the older copy in your InstallAware folder) to resolve this issue.

That´s exactly my problem, I'll try the file, thanks.

All works ok now, the build process is more quickly, thanks again.
