Pach build is either erroring or crashing

Hi,
I have created a patch build with the exchange of 1 file no other changes.
When executing the installer on the PC I get either the error 2711 or 2705 or a crash at the end and the file is not changed on the target PC.
I have looked at the following http://www.installaware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7975&start=0 link and played around with those compiler variables mentioned but this has increasingly worsen the case. First it was just the error 2711 then when CACHESOURCES = TRUE I got error 2705 and when I set it to DEFAULT it crashes.

It appears that I can't use the patch build at all.
I am using IA17.

Dear Manfred,

For what I can figure by the Windows Installer Errors you are receiving (2711 & 2705), It seems exist a problem with the patch's MS database.
For example, the error 2711 could be triggered when the patch tries to modify a "Feature", which it is not stored within its MSI Feature table or not available with the base installation database.

Are you sure you followed the required patch steps?

Thank you for the quick reply.
Yes I have followed the process described in the other case to create a patch.
I will take a look at the sample project maybe I can figure out what is going wrong with my build.
