Insufficient Memory - Single self-installing EXE

Postby TheVman » Wed Jun 10, 2015 12:48 am

I am looking at the InstallAware 18 trial and did a very simple basic build with only the static files we deploy and I get "Insufficient Memory" error ONLY when creating - Single self-installing EXE.

Win7x64
i73.5
16gb ram
+GB free space

I think its InstallAware's compression library.

Dear User,

as first, I suggest you to use the latest IA X2 trial (19.08) and not its previous version.

My previous post showing the trouble I'm having just trying to download your product was deleted, however the problem remains.

I am on my third attempt having leaving it for days with it just hanging or downloading but corrupt. Your site is throttling the download speed preventing me from downloading your product to evaluate.

Dear User,

you should have received an email notification from our web admin about the reason why your previous post was removed.

For what concerns the problem you seem to have, honestly for what I know, we do not operate any throttling with the download speed.
We constantly download the same package at support dept for test purpose and we never experienced any inconvenience.

However, it also available an alternative direct download link that can be used. Are you using it?

In addition, are you sure that any Anti Virus application is at the source of your issue?

Dear Support,

I have not received the email from your Forum admin, not in my junk either, can you send it again please.

Happy to hear it's all working fine for you, perhaps you could burn it to disc and send it to me please.

I was not aware of the alternative link, is it advertised on your website somewhere as I could not find it. I will use that link today in different browsers to see if i can successfully get the entire file downloaded.

I am not 100% sure about the Antivirus, we are regularly downloading from Microsoft MSDN files of this size and much more without issues and usually within the hour. I will get our IT department to commission a specific PC and download the file with verbose logging to find out what is really happening.

I have almost 10GB of data downloaded from your site without a single usable file amongst it.

Edit: - simultaneous speed comparison

Dear User,

honestly I don't know if the web admin email can be sent once again.
Anyway, this is sent when a post contains references not pertinent with the discussion or with the forum rules.

The alternative link is reported with our welcome email, the one that you receive when an email address is specified in the download page of our site.
For sure using this link the download should be much faster.

In case your problem is caused by AV interferences. you may try to use the "web installer version" of our product.
This installer is digitally signed, the full installer is not due its bootstrap size and very probably, you will be able to install it without the need to define any AV exception.

Also note, that our web installer only includes the core components of the product and all the other will be downloaded at setup Runtime.

IMPORTANT!
During the setup interview of the "web installer" and when required, specify a backup location for the downloaded components .
This will allow you to install the product successively and without the need to download the package components once again.

Hi Support,

I have setup 3 systems and downloaded the InstallAware evaluation on each. The outcome was far more positive then previously experienced however speed is still an issue across the board from your URL.
ISP - Telstra Fibre 16 with 32 burst (IP MAN) Business grade.

System1
Firefox - InstallAware web install
Installed using option to save installation files
Speed - ranges from 32KB/sec to 78KB/sec max - Started 16/06/2015 @ 10:41 AM - finished 17/06/2015 @ 1:35 AM

System2
Firefox - InstallAware website link
downloaded Full InstallAware evaluation (InstallAware_X2_With_Runtimes.exe)
Speed - ranges from 32KB/sec to 78KB/sec max. - Started 16/06/2015 @ 8:38 AM - finished 16/06/2015 @ 7:24 PM

System3
IE - InstallAware alternate link (email)
downloaded Full InstallAware evaluation (InstallAware_X2_With_Runtimes.exe)
Speed - ranges from 55KB/sec to 68KB/sec max. - Started 16/06/2015 @ 8:55 AM - (dropped out for unknown period and used resume) completed 17/06/2015 @ 9:41AM

All 3 systems finally successfully downloaded/installed the InstallAware evaluation so time to forge ahead and look at it.
Regards,

TheVman
