File path to long

I am trying to add the C++ version 12 runtime to an installer package but when I try to copy the files in the uncompressed folder to the CD I get the error that the path name is to long for the "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime 12.0 (includes ATL, MFC, C++ AMP, and OpenMP) (x64)" folder. Is there a way to shorten up the name? I did try to edit the checkvc12rtm_x64 file to look for the shortened name but this did not work. So what is the correct way to shorten the folder name?
