Build Patch Error: Cannot generate a primary transform

Postby BerndS » Tue Jul 07, 2015 6:18 am

I am using InstallAware for a while now. And I have been building a lot of Patches.

Now I am getting this build error:
Error during build: Unable to create patch database [Cannot generate a primary transform.]

I am not able to clarify that issue for myself. Could somebody help, please?

I have got a few versions of my software: 7.0.1, 7.0.2, 7.0.3 and 7.0.4
I am able to build the patch against the previous version (7.0.4 based on 7.0.3).
But if I include any older version, there will be this annoying error.

I took a look into the msp.log file and noticed, that the process finished at a specific file (Including entire file...).
Then I assumed, that particular file could be the cause of the error and undid the changes to that file.
I made a new patch build. But the error came again. The msp.log file told me, that the build process stopped on another file.
The build process seems to stop coincidentally on the process of a random file.

Thanks

I just noticed, that I eliminated a merge module since version 7.0.3

How could I tell the patch build process not to look for a missing merge module respectively the files within the merge module?

I found a workaround.
Add the removed merge module temporarily again to the current setup.
