how to avoid IE proxy settings with web media download

Postby hdwivedi23 » Fri Aug 26, 2016 7:58 pm

Hi,

Some of our customers are facing download issues when trying to download .net web media block. It looks like IE proxy settings are blocking the download. I read on some other posts that web media block relies on IE for download.

So,is there any alternative to Web Media Block download?
How about Download file plugin? does that uses IE for download.

Can someone please help.

Dear Hdwivedi23,

"Download file plugin" relies on IE for download. By the way, if your customer uses proxy settings, these are required regardless of the download engine you intend to use.

At any rate, Proxy servers are fully supported by WMB - users will be prompted automatically if necessary.

Hope this helps you.

Proxy settings are local to each browser. In our case, user is using bad proxy settings on IE. And instead of asking each user to modify or correct their browser settings, I would prefer to avoid dependency on IE for download. Is there a way to do that?

As I said, both "Download file plugin" and "web Media Block" relie on IE for download.
So unless you release a custom component based on an alternative engine (eg. a custom plugin), this is not possible using the above IA components.
