Quick Launch in the Taskbar resetting?

Hi there,

we have a problem with our setup again. One of our costumers reported, that after he installed our product on his WTS 2008 R2 Standard Edition with Citrix Xenapp 6.0 only our producticon appears in the quick launch bar. All other Quicklaunch icons have disappeared and not only for one user. For all 70 users working on that terminal server. Inside the userprofile folder the old icons are still available but it looks like they are no longer shown inside the taskbar. if he pins another icon like for example "Outlook" it appears as "Outlook(2)".
The Icons reside by default under for example "C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar".

I have allready checked the setup project, but we dont write manually any registry-keys that could be responsible for that.
The only call i have seen in setup is:
Create Shortcut $DESKTOPDIR$\{productname} to $TARGETDIR$\{productname}.exe, Pin to Start Menu, Pin to Taskbar, Pin to Start Screen
Ohh we use IA17 (Version 8.4.13) to build our setups.

So my questions are:
- Have you ever mentioned such a problem too?
- How could this happen?
- Is it possible to send you our single compressed setup and you may check whats goring wrong there?
- it may also be possible to send our whole project if that works for you?

Dear Martin,

honestly, I never faced a similar problem and we never received a similar report by any other user as well.
The IA command that handles the shortcut creation, simply embeds the corresponding WINAPI responsible of the Task-Bar setting for the given shortcut only.

Dear Francesco,

our customer tried the things mentioned in your two links and it doesnt have any effect.
It's a realy strange behaviour which we cant reproduce in our rooms too. But what we tried is building an setup with the "old" InstallAware 2009 R2. Like mentioned in another post i think there have been some really deep changes between 2009R2 and 15 or maybe 17 or 18. (see here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9671).
We also have to build an setup on every release for our windows 2003 server customers because we didnt get it to run in IA 17.
So we build a setup on a VM with our old 2009 R2. Our problem is now, that this is not nice for automation build like we want to do.

Am I really the only one with a customer mentioning that problem?

as you can easily imagine, we are able to verify a possible issue, if we are able to replicate it ... otherwise how can we do?

like i said before its not possible for us to replicate the problem. I added a screenshot from our customer with the damaged icons in the taskbar here:

Would it help you if we can grant you access to the testsystem of our customer who had that problem and could you help us with this issue here?
It also would be no problem for us to send you our setup.exe/.msi or even the whole setupprojekt if that may help.

Dear Martin,

if the problem can be replicated with a unique single machine only, are you sure that instead it isn't that specific machine the source of your problem?

Anyway, do you have any possibility to release a VM clone (VM Ware format) of that system?
