Installer wants to load a RBF during repair or maintenance

Postby Frank » Wed Jan 27, 2016 10:48 am

For some reason, my installer needs a RBF from C:\Config.MSI\ when I do a repair or maintenance on my installation.
The file that is referred to in the error-message is indeed not in that folder (as matter of fact, the whole folder is missing)
Now for the 'funny' part. If I run the MSI again, I can do repair and maintenance, but when I want to start this process from the Control Panel it fails!

How can I get to the root of this problem? What do I check?

Dear Frank,

I am not quite sure what you meant with "...my installer needs a RBF from C:\Config.MSI\ when I do a repair or maintenance on my installation"

did you mean that your package asks for the setup source files when the maintenance mode gets started from Control Panel?

If this is your case, please have a look at the following discussion.

If only all my problems would be solvable by clicking a mere checkbox :D
Apparently all our installers (single self-extracting executable) had this behavior, but no one noticed before.

But it works like a charm now.
Thank you!

Yes you are right!
It would be nice to have a checkbox where to click in case of problems :D
