Maintenance Mode Dialog without Modify

Postby MarkElder » Mon Nov 07, 2005 6:05 pm

Hello,

My install does not have any optional components so I disabled the setuptype and componentstree forms. That works great on install. However, when you uninstall or if you need to repair the install you are also get the "Modify" option. When you try to use the modify option nothing happens - from the user's prespective anyway. The install does move forward and exits. Because the user is never presented with any choices it seems to just diappear.

I am guessing that to fix this I will need to upgrade to Studio and get the form editor. I thought I would try a post and see if there are any other solutions to remove or disable the "Modify" option on the Maintenance Form.

Thanks,

Mark

You can also not show that dialog, and instead prompt with something like "would you like to uninstall this application?" If you want to see a script that does this, you can generate it using the Project Wizard, telling it to disable the maintenance option.

Unfortunately, yes you do need Studio if you want to edit the dialogs...
