Hello,
I am trialling InstallAware for the company I work for. So far, it's been excellent, however, I think I've come across a small snag.
I'm including .NET 4.0 and .NET 4.5 in the package that I am creating and some files that belong to these frameworks are causing the generated file path to be too long so I can't move the files to another directory. This means I can't burn discs for testing purposes!
Is there a way to truncate the file paths that get automatically generated and to still guarantee that the application will run?
Cheers,
Simon

Re: Issues with Installaware version 16.05
Dear Simon,
IA 16.05 includes a new feature in order to avoid File Bag content collision with included runtimes and each runtime, it is now stored under a unique File Bag folder (randomly named).
However, I tried to generated a CD image from an un-compressed IA 16.05 build which includes .Net 4 & .Net 4.5 runtimes.
I haven't found any problem to create my CD. I haven't used the integrated Windows CD burning utility, but a specialized application for that ( ... as many available).
Regards

Hi FrancescoT,
Thanks for the speedy reply.
The main issue was copying the files from say C:/ProjectName/Release/Uncompressed to D:/BURNME, perhaps the CD burning tool you use is truncating the file paths, as I've heard say Nero truncates them to a specified limit.
Which CD burning utility were you using and I'll try to burn a CD using that instead?

Re: Issues with Installaware version 16.05
Hi again,
I tried it with Nero and it works for burning a CD.
However, a quick look through Nero points us to the shortening of Paths I mentioned. (See screenshot). So if you try to move the files over using Windows Explorer or try to burn the CD using the default windows CD burner it won't work as it doesn't have this functionality and you won't be able to copy all your files over to another directory.
Anyway, I guess you guys can just point customers to this work around if they have issues. What would be cool though is if Install Aware sorted this out itself (unless it does already and I'm missing something, especially as it has no problem generating long files paths when you click on build in IA.)
Thanks for your help.
