Uninstall shows no status during resource cache copy

We have an application installer which, when compressed, is approximately 1 GB. We must distribute this installer as a single file. We also need our customers to be able to uninstall the application without prompting to locate the installer source.

Our problem is that on machines with slower hard disk drives, there appears to be nothing on the screen for up to 4 minutes while the resource cache copy is made. We need to find a way to display something on the screen while this occurs. This is quite urgent. Please advise.
