Dear Technical Support/Experts,
I'm new to the Authenticode signature feature, I'm trying to sign an installer and I still get the "Publisher: Unknown" message.
I got a certificate from Comodo, then I create the .PFX file and tried to use it in IA but I got an error in the compilation. Then, I followed a process to create the .SPC and .PVK files, and using those files I was able to compile and create the installer, but when I try to run the installer on a computer without the certificate previously installed, I got the message. Also, I used the same certificate (.PFX) in a Visual Studio Project and I was able to create an .EXE signed, so I can run my .EXE on any computer without the warning message "Publisher: Unknown".
Only if I install the certificate in the computer, the IA installer is recognized as a valid publisher.
Probably I'm missing something, and my question is, using IA do I need to install/distribute the certificate ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Authenticode Signature still shows Unknown publisher
Dear User,
You should install the certificate only on the machine that will be used to build the distributed code and not on the target machines where you install your signed package.
Did you install it? Did you follow the documentation supplied by your certificate vendor?

Re: Authenticode Signature shows Unknown publisher (solved)
Well, I thought maybe I made a mistake, so I decided to recreate the files (.SPC and .PVK) again following the process explained here:
https://support.comodo.com/index.php?_m ... cleid=1089
Same results.
Then (just lucky) I decided to try again using the .PFX file and I got the building error again, so I decided to enter the password in the "password: (optional)" field and the build was successful, then I tested the installer on a computer without the certificate and it was fine, so problem solved.
In general, it was confusing the "(optional)" label and no explanation in the help documentation.
Hopefully this can help to other users.
