Conditional installation

I need to build an installation for an MS Word plugin. As part of that, I need to check and make sure that a suitable version of Word is installed before I install the plugin. Express doesn't seem to provide any sort of flow control or give me any ability to make an install conditional. What's the minimum version I need to do this? Thanks.
