WIXAware or InstallAware

Postby msant7 » Wed Apr 11, 2007 1:13 pm

Hi,
Is there a comparison on WixAware vs InstallAware? Why should I buy one over the other? I noticed that Wix allows you to add users, what are the other major differences?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

The two products are very different. InstallAware offers a lot of unique features:

* Partial Web Deployment
* MSIcode Scripting
* 2x Better Compression
* One-Click Patching
* One-Click Runtimes
* Easy Multiple Instances
* Flash/HTML Billboards

and more, which are unique amongst all Windows Installer tools to InstallAware. InstallAware is able to do all of the above, and more for you.

WiXAware on the other hand is an IDE based on top of Microsoft's open source WiX (Windows Installer XML) platform. In the good InstallAware tradition, it lets you visually edit your WiX script, and offers two-way roundtripping between the visual IDE and the WiX source code. However, you may find overall that WiX is both harder to use, and harder to create intelligent setups in.

InstallAware is Windows Installer without Rocket Science,
WiXAware is Windows Installer XML, with the Rocket Science :)
