Running Setup Squeezer from command-line

Postby baustin » Mon Apr 23, 2007 11:25 am

Is there a way to run Setup Squeezer for MSIs from the command-line? I would like to add it to our build process, but couldn't find any way to automate the GUI.

thanks,
Brent

If it isn't possible to run Setup Squeezer from the command-line, is the functionality of Setup Squeezer available in some other product? Specifically, I want to take an existing .msi file and recompress (using LZMA) it into a self-extracting installer. Is that what the "Import MSI/MSM Windows Installer Database" feature of InstallAware Studio Admin does? If so, is Studio Admin the only version of InstallAware that will do what I want?

thanks,
Brent

Hi Brent,

InstallAware contains a superset of Setup Squeezer's functionality; however I don't believe the tools there can be automated in the manner you want - there is an automation interface, but it doesn't cover setup recompression.
