I would like to publish a single installation exe to my customers that will be able to do:
1. Fresh install.
2. Upgrade from any previous version.
I don't care too much about download size, because it's not that big anyway, and a large part of it will be required in all cases.
If it's possible, what edition does it require:
- Express?
- Developer?
- Studio?
(Asked before but got no answer so trying again.)
Thanks,
Kjell
Can the same installer both do fresh installs and upgrades?
IA can do this
1. As long as its not a patch build, no problem.
2. As long as you set your product ID, and do not change it between builds, IA will detect the old build and automatically uninstall it before installing the new one.
As for edition, this really depends how detailed your setups are. All of the editions are capable of doing the above, however, it boils down to how much tweaking you can do.
I would recommend having a look at the feature matrix here: http://www.installaware.com/right-edition.htm.
Don't forget, if you purchase, for example, Express and you find it is not "man enough", you can always upgrade easily!
