Hi,
I'm currently using a competitors product, but I just discovered your product and I'm looking to switch over! I hope your product can help me. I have a version of the trial software and I love the scripting capabilities. However, I've got a particular problem to which I can't find a solution.
I will be creating 2 files with another application. They'll have the same name but different extensions. One will be a database file I've created and the other will be a list of counties the database represents.
Those sets of files can be in a fixed directory. There will also be a fixed directory that has a set of maps: CNTY1_Map1.map, CNTY1._Map2.map, CNTY2_Map1.map, CNTY2_Map2.map..... (there may be any number of maps for a single county).
I would like to pass the name of the database file in as a compiler variable and have it picked up for installation. This works, using the compiler variable in the file name of the INSTALL FILES command.
I also use that file name to READ FROM TEXT FILE on the other file, to get the names of the counties. But I can't use the output variable in the INSTALL FILES command as part of the file name.
For instance, the county file associated with databaseA might have "Burke" and "Pitt" in it, so I'd want the install to use those maps. But another county file, associated with databaseB, might have "Burke" and "Johnston" in it, so I'd only want those files in the install.
Since having variable names in the INSTALL FILES command is not allowed, is there any way to achieve my goals with InstallAware?
Regards.
Clif
