Web Update Progress Bar

Postby chudley » Tue Aug 14, 2007 11:38 am

When I generate an update/patch for my install and place it on the web server, everything works fine on the client machine. However, the progress bar for both the download and install portion of the update jumps to 100% and just sits there. This is really no use to the user.

Can anything be done to allow the progress bar to accurately reflect the status of the download and install?

I am on version 6.6.

Thanks,
Chad

Sounds like you have a small download (or it downloads really quick!), but the extraction, etc takes ages?

How big is the update to be downloaded? It should give you a step by step display while it downloads ....

The downlaod contains one item that is just under 3MB. Both the download and install jumps directly to 100% and then just sits there until the process is done.

Very odd. Possibly the download routines are unable to identify the size of the download (they use standard Windows API's for this) - so might be worth trying to host it on another server.
