Any method to find product code?

Post by dchen »

Actually, is there any way to search our software product code with installaware command?

Our product setup is packaged in installaware project.
The product code will be changed when new patch is applied.
I need any method to find the path or the uninstallstring in regedit because in different computer, there will be a different product code.

Any suggestion is really appreciated.

If you have a look in your registry for your Product Code (which should NOT change for your project) you will find everything you need under the single registry key.

I do look in the registry editor.
But I found in different computer, the product code will be different.
I think it's generated in the runtime.
Therefore, I cannot get the correct path to read its registry.

Is there any way to uninstall a previous version of our product using installaware before new version is installed?

Thank you for any response.

Derrick.

The easiest way to uninstall the old install before carrying out a new install is to make sure that your Product Code in your setup script is the same between versions; this (and the default script logic) will automatically ensure the old edition of your product is removed.
