Is it possible to configure an installer so that it can write a README file to the desktop of the destination machine before it starts the installation (including removing any previous release)?
Alternately, is it possible to put a README file in the root of the installer build in such a way that a user can view it before starting the installation? The present system puts files in multiple subfolders, so it is difficult to find a README that may be destined to be put in the Program Folder.

Intheory this is possible, however, you will need to either embed a dummy installer into your project to place the readme file, or call the FileCopy windows function to place the file ... due to the way MSI works, files are not actually copied or extracted until the Apply Install is carried out.
