Cancel button ignored

Post by JeffTucker »

I have 2 custom dialogs in my script - the first one non-modal (progress for checking prerequisites) and the second a modal display of prerequisite status. Both have cancel buttons. If the user clicks on cancel for either, the script just hangs with the dialog there.
I verified that the checkingPrereqs dialog (nonmodal) returns its result in the WIZARD variable. During the next sets of checks that run I check several times if the WIZARD Equals CANCEL, then terminate.
if Variable WIZARD Equals CANCEL
Hide Dialog
Terminate Installation
end

For the modal dialog, it just check one time after the dialog returns.
The script just seems to ignore the request. Is WIZARD a variable I should not use here?

Version 8.0. Is this a known issue?

Nope; should work .... have you tried setting watches in your script to check the variable contents ?

Have debugged it.

The WIZARD variable has "NEXT" for a value, despite the fact that the user JUST said cancel and confirmed it on a confirmation dialog.
However, I have noticed that at times it does run correctly. It seems to make some difference how the exe is invoked. If the interactive user does so, no problem. If some other application invokes it, all bets seem to be off. At this point I have the windows task scheduler invoking the setup and all is well, so maybe there was a corrupt build in there... I don't like mysteries like this.

Can you double check your form settings - specifically, make sure you are setting the WIZARD variable for cancel ...

Double-checked the Wizard return

In the invokation of the dialogs I am indeed capturing the return result in the WIZARD variable. This setup is very large, it it possible that size might account for the problem? By the way, cancel is not working for any dialogs. Is it possible that the WIZARD variable is not being properly updated by the runtime?
