InstallAware 9: Software Patch over internet

Post by Raubi »

Hi,

I'm running InstallAware 9 (Build Moya.sp1.070409). That's my situation:

I've go a software version 7.0.0 (that's what I've filled in in "product version"). I set up a monitor url (http://www.abc.com/ftp/updates/updates.ini) and created a setup which has been delivered to customers.

Now it's time to deliv version 7.0.1. I changed the "product version" to 7.0.1, added new files and so on. After that, I added the old setup from 7.0.0 to Deployment -> Patches and created a patch via Project -> Patch. The patch itself works fine.

I added a update pack ("Web Updates"):

Name: Update to 7.0.1 from 7.0.0
URL: http://www.abc.com/ftp/updates/installe ... _7.0.1.exe

In "Web Updates" > "Version" I added the version 7.0.1 and assigned the created updatepack to it. So I got following updates.ini:

Code: Select all

[Update Packs for Versions]
7.0.1=Update to 7.0.1 from 7.0.0
[Update to 7.0.1 from 7.0.0]
URL=http://www.abc.com/ftp/updates/installers/Update_from_7.0.0_to_7.0.1.exe
Description=
Reboot=No
Silent=No
Parameters=
I uploaded this file to the monitor url. But now, if I start the Updater, which was delivered in version 7.0.0, I get the message, that there is no new update available.

Do you have any ideas?

Have you added .ini as a MIME type in IIS?

It's an apache webserver. But I found the solution.

I had to add the version "7.0.0" and add the update pack to it.

It's like: "If you have version 7.0.0, you need update pack abc to get the newest".
I thought it was: "You need updatepack abc to get version 7.0.1"
