I copied my entire project to a new computer. But when I try to open the project InstallAware returns a "Project Load Error: Script for project missing: \\FSERVE\ProgDrive\Glacier\Installation\InstallAware\Glacier 17.0\Glacier 17.0.mia. Closing Project now."
FSERVE is the name of the old computer that is no longer online. The .mia file does exist on the new computer and is in the same folder under the entire path, except the name of the computer.
How can I recover this project?
I'm using InstallAware Studio 9 R2.
Thanks, James
Moving a Project: can't find include script
Re: Moving a Project: can't find include script
Right-click on your project.mpr file and open with notepad.
You should see the line (probably at the top):
\\FSERVE\ProgDrive\Glacier\Installation\InstallAware\Glacier 17.0\Glacier 17.0.mia
If that script is included in your project folder, you should be able to rename it to:
Glacier 17.0.mia
Or you can use relative paths like:
.\scripts\Glacier 17.0.mia
..\..\My Documents\Glacier 17.0.mia

That did it. Thanks, James
Re: Moving a Project: can't find include script
You know, I think this would be a good IA utility - can you guys make a "Project Mover" in either a stand-alone wizard or inside IA 9 R2 (or later
) that will allow you specify a directory to move a project to and it will just update all the appropriate references?
I find that sometimes I start out with a "test project" that mushrooms into the real thing. Then I want to move the project to the approprate folders with its new "official" name instead of "testit2" directory.

Re: Moving a Project: can't find include script
I know it would be easier if you could leave all your source files in your development folder (i.e. if you work in C++, you could just point your IA setup to your C++ project files),I think it's worth mentioning here that from my experience, if you have any expectation to move the project at any point, it's best to include your sources within the project directory. I usually just create a "files" folder..
The project moving tool is a good idea. I created a poll for it to gauge interest in this. Cast your votes today!
