Error loading type library /DLL
Re: Error loading type library /DLL
I can't say for sure but I could suggest something you could try. Create a blank project and select the MSIcode tab and add a theme to your project - any one of them will do. Copy the code that displays the dialog in your other project. Does it give the same error message when you build and run it? I've never had a problem running dialogs on any OS before so it'll be interesting to see if you can replicate the problem in a blank project or whether some other "environmental" factor is perhaps causing the runtime error.

Re: Error loading type library /DLL
Thanks for your answer but that is not an option at this moment.
The setup has been run in hundreds of computers around the world for the last year without a problem so I bet it is an "environmental" issue.
I only wnated to know if someone here, or even technical support staff, have faced the problem before and he/she could solve it.
Regards

I'm sure you know your own machines and installations better than anyone. I was only promoting a scenario of something that could possibly be tested in isolation, if only to see if something basic-cum-trivial might perhaps trigger it. Good luck!jeaguado wrote:Thanks for your answer but that is not an option at this moment.

Re: Error loading type library /DLL
I have the same error. My installs have worked on 100s of computers. I now have 2 computers that are having this problem. Full error is "Runtime error in setup script: Line 529: Error loading type library/DLL". My script only goes up to line 391 so I'm stumped as to what the hell is going on. This is very frustrating for me and my clients.
Re: Error loading type library /DLL
Unfortunately we don't much more information on this, other than it's being experienced on an XP machine when the installer succeeded on many (hundreds) of other machines.
It would be gold to know what is causing the issue on that machine.
What DLL is being called? Are you calling DLLs that are included in your package as support files or system DLLs?
As for trying to determine what line of code is actually failing, one idea is to try building your project using the command line build tool. I know that during compile errors, it properly displays the script and line in the script that the error occurs. There may be a chance that the script/line could be generated during run time, too. (I am somewhat doubtful)
Has anyone experiencing this been able to test out IA 10?
You may need to try creating a test project and copy all of your DLL calls into it to see which one if any fails on these problem systems...
