Create self signed certificate in IIS

Post by kishan1 »

I'm using trial version of Installaware 10.10 to evaluate it to see if it meets our needs. One of our requirement is create self signed certificate in IIS 6.0 or IIS 7.0 on client machine when client installs our product and assign it to the website for our site.I was able to create web site but I didn't see any option for creating certificate in IIS through installaware. I'm optimistic that there must be a way of accomplishing this task using installaware. I really appreciate any help or advise in accomplishing this task.

Dear Kishan,

There isn't a way to directly do it with InstallAware.

That being said, if you can find a way to do this in the command line, you can obviously call those commands in InstallAware with the Run Program command.

Dear Aviv,
I was able to create self signed certificate using makecert utility. But does installaware has any plug-in that lets me assign the certificate to website/virtual folder?

Kishan,

Unfortunately no. That being said, if you are able to assign the certificate with the command line tools (like APPCMD) then you should be able to do so in InstallAware be invoking those tools.
