Re: Installaware 9 setup files
I just got hit by this one myself. I was able to find the backup files for my sp2 install, but I have nothing for sp3. The uploaded appears to be sp2 as well though it appears to be 050510... I have 052710 in my backups.
Does anyone have the sp3 full installer?
I've emailed Royi and hoping for a positive response there.

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
No reponse yet. I just am really having a hard time grasping this. I did what i was supposed to do, I backed up my files. But I need a release with bug fixes, that I should be allowed todownload, which has been removed. Why is it so difficult to make the full installers of the final releases of previous versions available?
Re: Installaware 9 setup files
I apologize, but it is InstallAware's policy that we do not keep older versions of our installer on our servers.
Hopefuly someone who has backed up the binaries and will be willing to upload them for you.

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
Aviv,
The policy is quite vague and actually not quite fair. I downloaded R2 when it was released, and backed up my files as I should have done. Now here I am, in need of the SP3 fix for the Visual Studio 2010 integration and it's not available anymore. I was unaware of it's release and now it's a bug fix I need. To say "I didn't download it in time" is not an acceptable response from a company wishing to retain customers. Furthermore, Royi uploaded the final version 9 installer and posted about it in this very thread with the statement "InstallAware's #1 priority is customer service and support." why should this be any different with the R2 installer? It's on your servers -- breaking your own policy.
I love InstallAware, but to be honest, this has left a bad taste in my mouth and I hope it is rectified. Please stand by the statement "InstallAware's #1 priority is customer service and support."

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
Hi,
Unfortunately, we do not have SP3 available anymore. We usually do not keep old versions, as Aviv stated. I had R1 on my PC, so we were able to help out with that.
I can try and see if I have R3 somewhere, but I do doubt it. Our #1 commitment it indeed customer satisfaction, and I will do whatever it takes to make you happy. Please allow me to check if I can find it, if I do, I will upload it right away.
Thank you.

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
Royi,
Thank you for the first reply in this matter that has satisfied me. Though I'm still confused how it's not possible that setup files are not archived somewhere to be able to return to a previous build. Speaking as a software developer, I would have to say your internal processes need some revising if this is infact the case.
Generally I would have just upgraded to the latest version, however, I really have no need for version 10. Every prerequisite in my setup files requires Windows Installer. So if Windows installer is somehow tanked, getting my software installed won't do them much good with the prereqs.
I'm looking forward to your reply.

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
The lack of any post seems to indicate Royi was unsuccessful in finding SP3 -- that really sucks. IA really needs to revise this policy to keep full installers of at LEAST the last major version. This is disappointing

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
I think I have a web installer for IA9 R2 SP3 here with the necessary webmedia.
The InstallAware.exe setup version is v9.1.9010.2010 (13MB) - digitally signed 12 Jul 2010. Is that SP3? I find the version numbering hard to decipher.
I selected pretty much all the components for a 'studio' install and ticked the option to backup the various webmedia components during installation (which I retained).
So its not quite an ISO for IA9 R2 SP3 but I think what I have forms a complete install? It might just be good enough for you?
Let me know if you still need it and I'll zip everything up for you and place it on my server (assuming nobody from IA objects to me distributing the files).
For the record, I think IA needs to re-assess their policy regarding archived downloads.
Granted the policy is made clear at the start but it differs from the industry standard and general expectations of customers.
Personally, I don't understand the logic behind the policy. There are times when its necessary to roll back to old versions (problems with new versions, testing scenarios, etc).
Customers may not always be able to upgrade to the current version (though they may do later if they remain a happy loyal user!).
Fortunately, I took heed of the IA advice to backup so I'm not affected by this problem, but this thread still leaves me feeling rather concerned.
Its a problem which simply shouldn't have arisen and only creates a bad feeling for people who have paid for their product (or who may be considering whether to purchase/upgrade in the future).
I hope IA have a re-think on this for the future as it can only hold back what is a great product!

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
Greetings,
I'm having to rebuild a machine and the backup that we have of the IA 9 R2 is the full install, but for some reason I've failed to record the password for this installer, I have the others, but not this one. This is for a legitimate copy, I have my license file installer already, just need the password for the basic installer.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Michael

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
Is there any progress with this yet?? I have spent the last year working on an upgrade to my company's software product, and now I have revised the setup program and am encountering a bug in the dialog designer which apparently is fixed in v9 R2 SP3 - which I didn't know anything about (no emails from Installaware to tell me it was available). To read in this thread that it is not IAs policy to make previous downloads available to people who have paid a lot of money for it beggars belief, but to also say that you don't even have a copy of it internally is truly astonishing. How can we, as your customers, take you seriously as a software company when you act like this?
Are you seriously saying that the onus is on us to remember to log in once a month to see if there are any updates available that we are entitled to - before they are removed from the site and apparently deleted from existence?
Please - give me an answer that shows that you really do care about your customers, rather than just dismiss me as a troublemaker. I have presented you with a problem in that I need the IA9 R2 SP3 build - how can you help?

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
Hello All,
Unfortunately I couldn't find on my local machine here IA9 SP3. I'm afraid that we currently have IA9R1 available for you to download, again, at www.intsallaware.com/ia9r1.exe .
If anyone does have by any chance a back up of IA9 SP3, please contact me at royi.sher[at]installaware.com and I will show you where to upload the file. Please contact me ASAP.
Thank you.

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
Is the webmedia copy I have any good to you? See my earlier post above.
Re: Installaware 9 setup files
Joe summed it up pretty good. I still for the life of me can't figure out how it's just deleted forever. It makes no sense at all.
Now I'm getting e-mails about IA 11, which has some decent features, but this has really rubbed me the wrong way.

Re: Installaware 9 setup files
Thanks to the poster for the InstallAware 9 R2 files on shareIt. I'm missing the installation code/password though, code someone post it here or pm me it?
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
