Edit component not return default value to the variable.

I'm use edit component with predefined default value Edit.Text="some text" with option "writes values to variable" (see attached) and then after that I'm for example trying to see this variable in MesageBox, variable not returned(see attached). I'm trying to define this variable in the code before usage it's same did not help, after dialog closing returned value equal to predefined in the code(empty string for example) and not to value from Edit.Text. Only if I change a value in the Edit in running time it's return a value to the code.

are you sure that the variable you are using, it is declared before you assigning to dialog control?
