Single .exe file not MSI

Post by aziaaddini »

Hi,
I am trying to build a simple project and want to create just a Simple .exe file as an output. How can I disable the MSI build part. I was looking for it in the forum and couldn't find it. Im already using Single file compression, but during build I can see, it states compressing for MSI. Is there a MSIcode I can enter to disable the MSI compression build completely.
Just as a Note, I do get the Single EXE fine, i just dont want to get the rest (to speed up the build).
Thanks

Dear User,

If I haven't missed your question, you want to create a package that is completely indipendent from MSI.

If I'm correct, you can use InstallAware NATIVE ENGINE with your package.
InstallAware includes a native code setup engine beginning with InstallAware version 10. The native engine complements Microsoft's Windows Installer setup engine and provides faster execution speeds and greater flexibility at runtime.
If the "NO_MSI" compiler variable is used in conjunction with NATIVE ENGINE, the setup compiler will skip MSI database generation as part of a build process, significantly speeding up the build.

For more detailed information please have a look to InstallAware documentation available for NATIVE ENGINE (just press F1 in IA IDE).

Hope this helps you.
